Description and schedule of services

9:45am: meet your personal local host at your hotel to start a private walking tour of Jerez old town aimed at learning about its Hispanic-Muslim origins and about the transformations that it experienced (architecture, urban planning, social composition and overall character) in the 13th century after the Christian conquest and later in the 18th and 19th centuries when its local wines (sherries) became the most fashionable drinks in the world. Your tour will also take you to the local market in order for you to understand not only the essential proximity service it is for the local community but also the important role it plays in the social fabric of the city.

Your introductory walking tour will take you also to one of the flamenco quarters of Jerez in order to offer you an understanding of why Jerez is considered the cradle of this form of art. During this final part you will also learn about the origins and evolution of this iconic music in Jerez.

11:20am: end of your introductory walking tour in a selected sherry bodega and private visit in order to learn about the making and ageing process of the different types of sherry. This will be followed by the corresponding tastings and by some basic notions about the art of pairing food and sherry.

12:45pm: end of the private visit to the bodega and walk to a selected tapas and sherries bar for lunch.

1pm: arrival to the bar and pairing tapas and sherries lunch. You will be offered a selection of 6 – 9 local dishes to share and up to 4 sherries per person. During lunch, you will be given further notions about the art of pairing food and sherry, while you discover why sherry is having a comeback in top gastronomy environment to its potential to boost the flavours of different foods.

2:30pm: end of lunch and walk back your hotel.

2:45pm: arrival to your hotel and end of services for the day.



Pricing

The price of this walking tour for a private group of 2 people is 225 Euros per person.

This price includes
– Personal local host from Genuine Andalusia throughout the journey (a certified Sherry Educator by the Sherry Regulatory Board and fully licensed tour guide by the Spanish government).
– A private visit to a selected sherry bodega with the corresponding tastings there.
– A tapas and sherries pairing lunch including a selection of 6 – 9 local dishes to share and up to 4 sherries per person.
– All taxes.

Confirmation and payments
In order to confirm this tour program we require full payment via credit/debit card no later than the 26th of October 2021.

Grand total of this tour program: 450 Euros.

Cancellation policy
– If you decided to cancel tour, we’d charge 80% of the full cost of the tour and we’d refund the remaining 20%.
– If the travel restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic didn’t allow for this tour to happen, we’d give you a full refund.
