10:20am: upon arrival to Ronda old town, meet your private guide to take a walking tour of the old town with a special focus on its Hispanic-Muslim origins and on the transformations that it experienced (architecture, urban planning, social composition and overall character) with the Christian Conquest in 1485 and in the following centuries until its main landmark (the impressive New Bridge) was built.

After the Christian conquest of Ronda in 1485, many wealthy military orders settled down in the city in order to defend its strategic location near the straits of Gibraltar and very well connected to the main Southern Spanish cities. These new inhabitants erected many noble residences and funded the construction of impressive religious constructions too.

Later, in the 18th century Ronda experienced a time of maximum splendor and its main modern landmark was built: the majestic New Bridge, which crosses over a 100m-deep gorge. This bridge then connected the medieval areas with the quarters that started to emerge on the other side of the gorge in the 18th and following centuries, creating the compact whitewashed town that Ronda is today.

Ronda also has stunning nature in its surroundings and your tour will take you to the best viewpoints so that you understand why this Andalusian gem attracted so many Romantic Travellers in the 19th century.

1:20pm: end of your tour walking tour and free time for lunch at leisure. Recommendations of places to eat will be given and a table will be booked for you if you wish.
