Description and schedule of services

17th of July: day trip from Cadiz to Arcos de la Frontera and Medina – Sidonia:
–
8:30am: private transfer from Cadiz to Arcos de la Frontera in a modern and comfortable minibus with your own personal local host and a dedicated driver. Explanations along the way about the agriculture, farming, rural landscape and geography of South West Spain.

9:50am: arrival to the village of Arcos de la Frontera and private walking tour of the old town with a special focus on its Hispanic – Muslim urban planning and traditional constructions, on its Christian monumental buildings, on its traditions and on its breath-taking viewpoints. Understanding of what life on the frontier between the Christian Kingdom of Castilla and the Muslim Kingdom of Granada was like in the 14th and 15th centuries. Tasting of some local delicacies along the tour.

11:50pm: private transfer from Arcos de la Frontera to Medina-Sidonia.

12:40pm: upon arrival to Medina – Sidonia, enjoy an introductory tour of the upper part of town aimed at learning about its Roman origins and about the important Hispanic-Muslim settlement it later became. During this part of the tour you will enjoy the best views of the surrounding fertile valleys. Medina – Sidonia is known as the balcony of Cadiz because of the lovely 360º views it offers from its highest point. Then you will be taken to the first quarters that emerged outside the city walls. This was when the nearby city of Cadiz held the monopoly of all trade with the new world and Medina – Sidonia became an important supplier to the thriving commercial hub that Cadiz became. This resulted in the construction of many noble houses in town, which today are beautiful examples of the wealth that the town accumulated in that period.

1:55pm: after your introduction to Medina – Sidonia, enjoy a tapas and sherries lunch in a selected tapas bar in the town. You will be given an introduction about sherry wines and also some tips to put into practice the regional art of pairing food and sherry.

3:25pm: end of your visit to Medina – Sidonia and private transfer back to Cadiz port.

4:15pm: arrival to Cadiz port and end of services for the day.

Price of this private day trip for a private group of 10 people. 105 Euros per person.

This price includes

– All entrance tickets and admissions during the tours of the villages.

This price excludes
– Lunch (your host will take you to a selected local bar for a tapas and sherries lunch and will stay with you for lunch to help you order and understand the local gastronomy as well as an introduction to sherry wines but the cost of lunch is not included).

Confirmation and payments
In order to confirm any of this tour we require a 30% deposit of the grand total no later than the 27th of March via credit/debit card. The final 70% must be paid via the same method no later than 15 days prior to the start of the tour.

30% deposit needed no later than the 27th of March to confirm the tour: 315 Euros.

Final 70% needed no later than 15 days prior to the start of the tour: 735 Euros.

Cancellation policy
– If you cancel your day trip more than 15 days prior to scheduled departure, we will charge the 30% deposit only.
– If you cancel your day trip between 15 and 7 days prior to scheduled departure, we will charge 50% of the grand total of the tour and we will refund the remaining 60%.
– If you cancel your day trip between 6 and 3 days prior to scheduled departure, we will charge 70% of the grand total of the tour and we will refund the remaining 30%.
– If you cancel your day trip 2 days or less prior to scheduled departure, we will charge 100% of the full cost of the tour.
(*) Please note that partial cancellations won’t result in partial refunds. This applies to the group size and to the duration of the tour.
