18th of May: private transfer from Málaga María Zambrano train station to hotel ICON Malabar

2:05pm: upon arrival of your train (AVE 02112) from Madrid to Málaga María Zambrano train station, collect your luggage, walk to the arrivals hall and meet your personal driver there. He will be holding a sign saying “Lisa Huntting – Global Edge Travel”. Then be transferred in a modern and comfortable Mercedes vehicle to your hotel in Málaga (ICON Malabar).

2:30pm (estimated): arrival to your hotel in Málaga and end of services for the day.

20th of May: private walking tour of Jerez with a visit to a selected sherry bodega including the corresponding tastings there:

3:30pm: meet your personal local host just outside the pedestrian exit of this underground car park in Jerez (park your car there beforehand) and start a private walking tour of the old town with a special focus on its Hispanic-Muslim origins and on the transformations that it experienced (architecture, urban-planning, social composition and overall character) with the Christian conquest in the 13th century and later in the 18th and 19th centuries when the local wines (sherries) became probably the most fashionable drinks in the world.

Your tour will take you first to the quarters inside the old city walls, where you will visit a selected sherry bodega (small, family owned and family run) specialized in very old rare sherries.

4pm: arrival to the Sherry bodega and guided visit aimed at learning about the making and aging of the different types of sherry. This will be followed by the corresponding tastings of 30 year old sherries. The visit will also include a tour of the art collection of the owners, which features remarkable works by Goya, Murillo, El Greco, Velazquez, Zurbarán and Picasso amongst many others.

5:30pm: after your visit to the sherry bodega, your tour will take you to learn about the first suburbs that developed outside the old city walls. It is in these bourgeois areas where the sherry merchants erected the mansions and big sherry aging facilities that Jerez is known for today. You will also understand how Jerez became one of the most prosperous cities in Europe thanks to its wine making industry and how this prosperity came to an end leading Jerez to becoming the humble and relaxed city it is today but that keeps the pride and splendor of its golden age.

To finish you will be taken to one of the flamenco quarters of the city. Jerez is the cradle of flamenco music and during this last part of the tour you will learn how flamenco emerged from South West Spain as a result of the slow fusion the ancient multicultural musical heritage of Southern Spain with the original gypsy rhythms and musical roots. This will help to se the context for (and enhance your appreciation of) the flamenco performance that you will witness later on.

7pm: end of your tour at Tabanco el Pasaje on time for the flamenco show at 7:30pm.

Confirmation and payments
In order to confirm any of these tours we require full payment no later than the 29th of April 2023 via credit/debit card.

Cancellation policy
– If you cancel the program more than 7 days prior to its scheduled start, we will charge 50% of the full cost of the program and we will refund the remaining 50%.
– If you cancel the program 7 days or less prior to its scheduled start, we will charge 100% of the full cost of the program.
(*) Please note that partial cancellations won’t result in partial refunds. This applies to the group size and to the duration and activities of the tour.
