Description and schedule of services

5th of June 2024: private walking tour of Jerez followed by a private visit to a sherry bodega and finishing at a selected local restaurant for lunch at leisure

9:30am: meet your personal local host at your accommodation in Jerez and start a private walking tour of the old town with a special focus on its Hispanic-Muslim origins and on the transformations that it experienced (architecture, urban-planning, social composition and overall character) with the Christian conquest in the 13th century and later in the 18th and 19th centuries when the local wines (sherries) became probably the most fashionable drinks in the world.

Your tour will take you first to the quarters inside the old city walls to later show you and explain about the first suburbs that developed outside along with the bourgeois areas where they sherry merchants erected the mansions and aging facilities that Jerez is known for today. You will also understand how Jerez became one of the most prosperous cities in Europe thanks to its wine making industry and how this prosperity came to an end leading Jerez to becoming the humble and relaxed city it is today but that keeps the pride and splendor of its golden age. To finish you will be taken to one of the flamenco quarters of the city. Jerez is the cradle of flamenco music and during this last part of the tour you will learn how flamenco emerged from South West Spain as a result of the slow fusion the ancient multicultural musical heritage of Southern Spain with the original gypsy rhythms and musical roots.

12pm: end of your tour at a selected sherry bodega and private tour with the owner aimed at learning about the making and aging of the different types of sherry. This will be followed by the corresponding tastings and by some basic notions about the local art of pairing food and sherry.

1:30pm: after your private visit to the selected sherry bodega be escorted to a local restaurant for lunch.

1:45pm. arrival to the restaurant and end of services for the day.

6th of June 2024: the Royal School of Equestrian Art and Cadiz

10:15am: meet your personal local host at your accommodation in Jerez and take a pleasant walk towards the Royal School of Equestrian Art. This will make an excellent opportunity to explore new parts of the city after your introductory tour the day before.

10:35am: upon arrival to the Royal school of equestrian art, enjoy an introductory walk of the premises along which you will be explained about the foundation of the school, about its evolution and about the different courses that are taught there. Then, enjoy some free time to explore the horse museum, which has plenty of audiovisual material to watch about Spanish horses and the carriage museum, which treasures an impressive collection of carriages of different periods and styles.

11:55am: be escorted to your seats to watch the horse show which includes performances of classic country riding, dressage and horse carriage driving.

1:30pm: after the show, be picked up by a private driver and be taken to a selected local restaurant for lunch, on the way from Jerez to Cadiz.

1:50pm: arrival to the restaurant and lunch.

3:20pm: reconnect with your driver and your guide and be transferred to the city of Cadiz. Along the way you will be explained about the landscape, economy, culture, customs and general character of the towns along the legendary bay of Cadiz.

4pm: upon arrival to Cádiz, you will first be taken on a panoramic tour of the city in order to learn about its peculiar geography and about its defensive colonial architecture. After your introductory panoramic tour, you will start a private walking tour of the old town with a special focus on the foundation of the city by Phoenicians 3000 years ago and on the period when the city held the monopoly of all trade with the new world, formerly established in Seville. During this part of the tour you will learn who the Phoenicians were, what brought them to Cadiz, what they brought to Cadiz and the impact that their arrival had in the course of the history, economy, agriculture, gastronomy and wines of Southern Spain. Then you will travel forward in time to the 18th century, when Cadiz was granted the monopoly of all trade with the new world. During this part of the tour you will se beautiful examples of colonial architecture and learn about the wealth, refinement and openness that the city accumulated in this period.

6:15pm: end of the tour in Cadiz and private transfer back to Jerez.

6:50pm: arrival to Jerez and end of services for the day.

Price of this private tour for a party of 4 pax: 305 Euros per person

This price includes:
– Personal local host from Genuine Andalusia throughout the tour (a knowledgeable, personable, kind, flexible and interactive fully licensed guide with a great command of the English language).
– Entrance tickets to the Royal School of Equestrian art including the horse carriage museum, the horse museum and 1st or 2nd row seats to see the horse show.
– All entrance tickets and admissions for your tour of Cadiz.
– All taxes.

This price excludes:
– Lunch, which is at leisure. We will take you to a selected local restaurant on the way from Jerez to Cadiz but lunch is at leisure there.


Confirmation and payments
In order to confirm this tour program we require a 20% deposit of the grand total no later than the 1st of February via credit/debit card. The final 80% must be paid via the same method no later than 30 days prior to the scheduled start of the tour program.

Grand total of this bespoke tour program: 1780 Euros

20% deposit needed to confirm the tour no later than the 1st of February 2024: 356 Euros

Final 80% needed no later than 30 days prior to the start of the tour program: 1424 Euros

Cancellation policy
– If you cancel a confirmed tour more than 30 days prior to its scheduled start, we will charge the 20% deposit only.
– If you cancel a confirmed tour between 30 and 15 days prior to its scheduled start, we will charge 40% of the full cost of the tour and we will refund the other 60%.
– If you cancel a confirmed tour between 14 and 7 days prior to its scheduled start, we will charge 60% of the full cost of the tour and will refund the other 40%.
– If you cancel a confirmed tour 6 days or less prior to its scheduled start, we will charge 100% of the full cost of the tour.
(*)Please note that partial cancellations won’t result in partial refunds. This applies to the group size and to the duration, activities and services of a tour.
