Description and schedule of services

Oct 23: day trip to the villages of Valdemossa and Deia, to the scenic peninsula of Sa Foradada and the village and port of Soller:

10am: meet your personal local host at the port of Mallorca and be transferred in a modern and comfortable minibus to the Sierra de Tramuntana, the mountainous northern section of Mallorca. This part of the island features a unique cultural landscape that was granted the designation of World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Along the way you will explore the villages of Valldemossa and Deia and the picturesque landscapes of the peninsula of Sa Foradada, where you will have an authentic paella with lovely views of one of the most dramatic parts of the island. This will make an excellent introduction to the beauty and most iconic towns in the north of the island.

The town of Valldemossa is the highest above sea level in the island. It is perched on a hilltop, and surrounded by terraced crops. Its quaint historic center preserves its traditional Mediterranean housing and visiting it will allow you to understand the type of place where people live in the island beyond its capital.

During your tour of the village, you will visit its Carthusian Monastery and the cell that the composer Frederick Chopin rented to the monks to stay one winter with his lover at that time.

Your discovery journey of the Tramuntana mountains area will then take you to the village of Deia. The village of Deià is together with Valldemossa one of the prettiest in the island. Your visit to Deià will allow you to discover the beauty of its surroundings and of its small old town while you learn about the many creative people who have been attracted to it throughout the last centuries.

Your next stop will be the scenic peninsula of Sa Foradada where you will see how the Tramuntana rugged landscape meets the Mediterranean sea, creating an iconic contrast typical of this part of the island. It will be here where you will stop for your paella lunch Mallorca style!.

After lunch, reconnect with your driver and be transferred to the town of Soller, famous for the surrounding orange crops and for treasuring an iconic temple designed by a disciple of Antoni Gaudí. It will be in Soller where you will take a wooden tramway that will take you to the near Port de Soller. This old tramway works as a public transportation service today and it is the most iconic way to cross the fertile land that separates Soller town from its port.

Once at the port of Soller, you will enjoy its relaxed vibe and beauty before reconnecting with your driver to be transferred back to the port of Palma.

6pm: end of your tour at the port of Palma.

You will start your walking tour by visiting the archaeological wonders of the city. These are its Carthaginian city walls, Roman Theater and Roman Forum. This will allow to learn about the foundation of the city in the 1st century BC and about its flourishing Carthaginian, Roman and Byzantine periods. Then you will be taken for lunch to a local restaurant to try a wide variety of local dishes, wines, and something very important for cartageneros: the local asiático: a coffee with liquor 43, cinnamon, condensed milk and some other secret ingredients.
