Description and schedule of services

7th of April 2025: private day trip from Jerez to Cordoba

8:30am: meet your personal driver at your accommodation in Jerez and be transferred in a modern and comfortable Mercedes vehicle to Córdoba.

11am: upon arrival to Córdoba old town, be met by your personal local host to go on a 3h discovery journey of the historical center of the city.

A UNESCO site since 1994, Córdoba is an inspirational city, which during the Middle Ages, saw a peaceful interaction between the three great Mediterranean cultures. Jews, Muslims and Christians coexisted then in the city turning it into a unique intellectual hub that gave birth to very renowned philosophers, poets, scientists and doctors. This also resulted in the construction of unique buildings of remarkable historical significance.

During your private walking tour, you’ll learn about the period of maximum intellectual splendor of the city and you will see beautiful examples of architecture and urban planning that will allow you to recreate all the grandeur of this era, which has the synagogue, the Chapel of Saint Bartholomew and the Great Mosque – Cathedral, as its most representative constructions.

The synagogue will allow you to understand the very important Jewish – Sephardic community that Córdoba once had and how much it embraced Hispanic-Muslim decorative arts in its places of devotion.

In the Chapel of Saint Bartholomew you will be explained about the transformations that the Jewish quarter of Cordoba suffered after the historical pogrom of 1391 and how it was repopulated with Christians, who were also very heavily influenced by the elaborate Hispanic-Muslim decorative arts of that time.

The Great Mosque-Cathedral is probably the most thought-provoking building in Spain and your personal local host will uncover all its beauty and complexity for you. You will understand its origins, its different enlargements and the role that the building has played in the culture and social fabric of the city throughout the centuries.

2pm: end of your tour and free time for lunch at leisure. We will give you recommendations and will book a table for you if you wish.

4pm: reconnect with your driver at the same spot where you were dropped off (your guide in Córdoba will give you directions) and be transferred back to your hotel in Jerez.

6:30pm: arrival to your hotel in Jerez and end of services for the day.

You will start your private walking tour by learning first about the origins and evolution of the city. This first part of the tour will take you to see the oldest (and most impressive) landmark: the Roman theatre. After this first part of the tour, you will be taken on a private relaxed tour of the Picasso Museum of Málaga. You will experience this genuinely Spanish approach to enjoying a meal by visiting two different tapas bars, where you will taste a selection of local dishes and wines.

3pm: after this first part of the tour, you will be taken to visit the Moorish fortress: the so-called Alcazaba. This will make a perfect trip back in time to the Hispanic-Muslim era. 9th of April 2025: private day trip from Jerez to the whitewashed villages of Arcos de la Frontera, Medina – Sidonia and Vejer de la Frontera:

10am: meet your personal local host at your hotel and together with your personal driver, get in a modern and comfortable Mercedes vehicle to start your discovery journey of the whitewashed villages of the province of Cadiz. The white villages or “pueblos blancos” in South West Andalusia are delightful places to visit due to their stunning beauty, fascinating history, friendly inhabitants, living traditions and wonderful gastronomy. Quality and simplicity of life seem to reign in these gorgeous sleepy towns overlooking fertile valleys and beautiful natural parks.

Their enviable hilltop locations with panoramic long distance views have attracted many different settlers throughout the centuries… Romans, Visigoths, Jews, Muslims and Christians built castles, houses, temples, roads and mills amongst many other constructions in these villages. Nowadays, the “pueblos blancos” can tell a lot about the culture and customs of their previous and present settlers through their architecture, traditions, handcrafts and ancient recipes. This day trip will take you to visit three selected white hilltop towns: Arcos de la Frontera, Medina Sidonia and Vejer de la Frontera.

You will start your day driving from your accommodation to Arcos de la Frontera, where you will spend the morning learning about its colorful history, about its location (once on a frontier between a Christian kingdom and a Muslim one) and enjoying its fascinating combination of houses of traditional architecture and grand monumental buildings. Later you will be driven to Medina Sidonia, famous in Southern Spain for its gastronomy. Upon arrival, you will have a lovely lunch in a family owned and family run restaurant and then you will be taken to explore its gorgeous old town which flourished with wealth when the nearby city of Cadiz held the monopoly of all trade with America, formerly established in Seville.

Then you will be driven to Vejer which has been recently added to the list of the most beautiful villages in Spain. This village has a very curious chic, bohemian and rustic atmosphere and it will be the icing on the cake to your discovery journey of the white hilltop villages of Southernmost Spain.

On your way back from Vejer to Jerez, enjoy a visit to Cape Trafalgar, a spot of exceptional natural beauty and of great historic significance as it was right there where the famous battle of Trafalgar took place. This battle gave its name to the most popular square in London and your guide will explain the historic context, development and consequences of this battle.

7pm: arrival to your hotel in Jerez and end of services for the day.
