Description and schedule of services:

19th of September 2022: the Sherry Triangle (I). Jerez de la Frontera

9:30am: meet your personal sherry host (a certified sherry educator by the sherry regulatory board) at your hotel in Jerez to start a walking tour of the old town to understand the evolution of the city from its foundation by the Muslims to its expansion during the blooming of the sherry industry. Understanding of the evolution of the architecture, urban planning, social composition and overall character of the city during this period.

10:30am: end of the introductory walking tour and visit of the local market of Jerez with tasting of selected local produce in different stalls. Understanding of the role that the market plays not only in the gastronomy of the city but also in its social fabric.

11am: end of the visit to the market and short walk to a small family owned and family run winery specialising in en-rama sherries (no filtration, no stabilisation, no clarification).

11:15am: arrival to the winery and private visit with the owner. Vertical tasting of their en-rama fino to understand its evolution in the solera and criadera system. This will be followed by a tasting of their oxidative sherries.

1pm: end of the visit to the winery and short walk to a selected local restaurant.

1:15pm: arrival to the restaurant and explanation of the menu, of the ingredients that will be used and of the different pairings. This will be followed by a pairing lunch there.

3:30pm: end of lunch and walk back to the hotel.

3:50pm: arrival to your hotel and end of services for the day.

20th of September 2022: the Sherry Triangle (II). El Puerto de Santa María.

9am: departure from your hotel in Jerez towards the sherry town of El Puerto de Santa María in a modern and comfortable minibus, with your own personal driver and your private sherry host from Genuine Andalusia for the day (a certified sherry educator by the Sherry Regulatory Board). Introductory speech about the town along the way.

9:25am: arrival to El Puerto de Santa María and panoramic tour of the old town from the bus, aimed at understanding the transformations that the town suffered when sherry started to be exported to the rest of the world from its port.

9:45am: end of the panoramic tour and private visit of a family owned and family run sherry winery with the corresponding tastings there. Explanation of the particularities of their wines, of the characteristics of their ageing facilities and of the history of the winery. Focus on fino sherries from El Puerto de Santa María (Puerto Finos).

11:45am: end of the visit in the first winery and private transfer to a selected vineyard in the central countryside of the Sherry Triangle.

12:15pm: arrival to the vineyard and tour around the vines with explanations of sherry viticulture by a local vigneron. Understanding of the particularities of the soil, of the climate and of the vines that make sherry so unique.

1:15pm: end of the walk in the private bodega of the owner, where he makes and ages Sherry only for him and his family. Tasting of his sherries accompanied by a selection of tapas.

2:15pm: homemade lunch (starters, mains and dessert) in the vineyard house of the owner cooked on site by his wife and accompanied by the corresponding sherries.

4:15pm: end of lunch and farewell sherry cocktail.

4:45pm: private transfer from the vineyard back to your hotel in Jerez.

5:15pm: arrival to your accommodation in Jerez and end of services.

21st of September 2022: the Sherry Triangle (III). Sanlúcar de Barrameda.

9:30am: private transfer from your hotel to Sanlúcar de Barrameda in a modern and comfortable minibus with your own personal local host and a dedicated driver.

10am: arrival to Sanlúcar de Barrameda and small introduction about its geographical location right on the mouth of the Guadalquivir river and in front of Doñana National Park. This will be followed by a small walking tour of its old town aimed at understanding the differences between Sanlúcar and the cities visited previously.

11am: private visit of a selected Manzanilla winery with tastings (straight from the cask) of different manzanillas and very old rare sherries (also straight from the casks). Understanding of the differences between finos from Jerez, finos from El Puerto and Manzanillas from Sanlúcar.

1pm: end of the visit to the winery and pairing lunch there cooked on site by a popular local chef. Explanations about the use of Manzanilla in the local cuisine.

3pm: end of lunch and private transfer back to Jerez.

3:30pm: arrival to Jerez and end of services for the day.

22nd of September 2022: day trip to Ronda: gastronomy, wines and a breath-taking town:

9:15am: departure from your hotel in Jerez in a modern and comfortable minibus with your own personal local host and a dedicated driver towards the town of Ronda. Introductory speech about Ronda and its emerging and fascinating wine scene along the journey.

11am: arrival to Ronda and private walking tour of the old town with a special focus on its combination of grand constructions and houses of traditional architecture, on its breath-taking view points and on its most iconic building: the bullring (the oldest in Spain). Visit of the bullring with explanations about the past and present of bullfighting in Spain.

12:45pm: end of the visit to Ronda and private transfer to a selected winery in the area.

1pm: arrival to the winery, meeting with the owner and tour of the vineyard first and later of the ageing facilities. Understanding of the very particular approach to wine making of the wine makers in Ronda and which follows quality vs. quantity. Tasting of the wines that are made in the winery, followed by a pairing lunch there.

4pm: end of lunch and private transfer back to your hotel in Jerez

5:45pm: arrival to your hotel in Jerez and end of services for the day.

23rd of September 2022: Visits to local producers in the natural park of Grazalema.

9:15am: private transfer from Jerez to the natural park of Grazalema to visit three selected local producers living in the natural park.

10am: arrival to a selected farm in the mountains with a salt-water spring where the salt has been extracted since the Roman times and is today extracted following the same manual methods. Meeting with the owner, visit of the spring and of the artisanal salt extraction facilities: decanters, heaters and crystalisers. Tasting of the salt at the end of the visit.

11am: private transfer from the salt farm to a traditional olive oil mill.

11:20am: arrival to the traditional olive oil mill, meeting with the owner and explanation of the artisanal techniques that he still uses for the production of olive oil. Tastings of different types of olive oil there. 

12:20pm: end of the visit to the olive oil mill and private transfer to the farm of a local shepherd who is also an artisanal goat’s cheese maker.

12:50pm: arrival to the farm of the shepherd, meeting with him and understanding of his activity as a shepherd and cheese maker. Tasting of the cheeses he makes at the end of the visit.

1:30pm: end of the visit to the farm of the shepherd and private transfer to a selected small restaurant in a small village for lunch.

1:50pm: arrival to the restaurant and lunch.

3:30pm: end of lunch and private transfer back to Jerez.

4:45pm: arrival to Jerez and end of services for the day.

24th of September 2022: Cádiz, the oldest city in Western Europe. Culture and gastronomy tour.

9:30am: private transfer from Jerez to Cádiz in a modern and comfortable minibus with your own personal local guide and a dedicated driver.

10:10am: arrival to Cádiz and panoramic tour of the perimeter of old town aimed at understanding the geography of the city, almost completely surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and facing a legendary bay.

10:40am: end of the panoramic tour of the perimeter of the city and walking tour of the inner parts with a special focus on the foundation of the city by the Phoenicians 3000 years ago and on the period when the city held the monopoly of all trade with America (18th century). Visit of selected building representative of the wealth that the city accumulated in both periods.

12:15pm: end of the culture tour and visit of the local market aimed at understanding the differences between the markets of Cadiz and Jerez.

1pm: end of the visit to the market and aperitif in a selected local tavern where the owner buys sherries from Sanlúcar to keep ageing them in the marine and humid climate of Cadiz.

1:30pm: small walk from the market to a selected family owned and family run tapas bar.

1:45pm: arrival to the tapas bar and lunch there.

3pm: end of lunch and farewell coffee and homemade sweets in a historical cafe to finish.

4pm: private transfer from Cadiz back to Jerez.

4:45pm: arrival to Jerez and end of services for the day.

Pricing:

Price of this bespoke tour program for a private group of 12 pax: 895 Euros per person.

This price includes:

– Personal local host from Genuine Andalusia throughout the program.

– Private transportation in a modern and comfortable minibus as per mentioned above.

– All private visits, entrances, admissions and tastings as per mentioned above.

– A homemade lunch in a private vineyard in the heart of the Sherry Triangle including starters, mains, desserts, sherry and a farewell sherry cocktail.

– A pairing lunch cooked in a private bodega in Sanlúcar by a popular local chef including starters, a main course, dessert and old sherries to pair.

– A pairing lunch in a selected local restaurant in Jerez old town including 4 dishes and 1 dessert all paired with the corresponding sherries.

– A pairing lunch in a selected family owned winery in Ronda including 3 courses and 1 dessert paired with 1 rosé and 3 different red wines.

– A tapas lunch in Cádiz followed by a coffee with homemade sweets in a historical café.

This price excludes:

– Lunch during the day trip to meet the local producers in the mountains.

Confirmation and payments:

In order to confirm this tour program we required a 30% deposit via credit/debit card. This has already been paid. The remaining 70% must be paid via the same method no later than 30 days prior to the start of the tour program.

Grand total of this bespoke tour program: 10740 Euros.

30% deposit needed to confirm this tour program (already paid): 3240 Euros.

Final 70% needed to fully pay the tour program (no later than 30 days prior to its start): 7500 Euros.



Cancellation policy:

More than 30 days prior to the start of the tour: deposit only.

30 – 15 days prior to the start of the tour: 50% of the full cost of the tour.

14 – 7 days prior to the start of the tour: 75% of the full cost of the tour.

6 days or less: 100% of the full cost of the tour.
