24th of May 2024: private bespoke day trip to Jerez and Cadiz

9am: meet your personal local host at your accommodation and be transferred in a modern and comfortable Mercedes vehicle with a dedicated driver to the city of Jerez. Along the way, your personal local host will give you some context information about the culture, history, landscape, economy and general character of Southernmost continental Spain.

10:15am: upon arrival to Jerez, start a private walking tour of the old town aimed at understanding the Hispanic-Muslim origins of the city and the transformations that it suffered (architecture, urban planning, social composition and overall character) in the 13th century with the Christian conquest and later in the 18th and 19th centuries when the local wines (sherries) became probably the most fashionable drinks in the world. This will include a visit to the local market in order for you to experience the energy of the city and the essential proximity services that the market is for the local community.

12pm: after your tour of Jerez be transferred to the city of Cadiz enjoying the coastal landscapes of the legendary bay of Cadiz.

12:40pm: upon arrival to Cádiz, you will take a panoramic tour of the city in order to see some beautiful views of the famous bay where the city is located as well as its defensive colonial architecture. Then, it will be time to venture on foot into the heart of the old town.

During your exploration of the old town you will learn about the period when the city held the monopoly of all trade with the Americas, formerly established in Seville. The bourgeoisie that settled down in Cádiz in this period transformed the city completely into a refined and cosmopolitan colonial hub. These new inhabitants of the city brought to Cádiz not only gold, silver, mahogany and other precious materials from the new world, but also new ideas and new trends that slowly transformed the local mentality, architecture, culture and gastronomy making it more and more diverse. Along this part of the tour you may want to visit the local market in Cadiz in order to see and understand the differences between this one and Jerez’s.

2:15pm: after your tour enjoy a well deserved lunch in a local tapas and wines bar.

3:30pm: end of lunch and private transfer back to Seville with your driver and your guide.

5pm: arrival to Seville and end of services for the day.
