Seville World Heritage Sites tour including a behind the scenes culture and gastronomy journey of the city

9:30am: be met your personal local host at your hotel to take a private walking tour of Seville old town aimed at learning about its fascinating history, breath-taking architecture, joyous lifestyle and wonderful tapas and wines scene. You will start your discovery journey by visiting the Alcazar which is a massive complex of palaces erected in different periods and of breath-taking gardens of different styles. The Alcazar has stunning historical constructions featuring a very particular crossover between Hispanic-Muslim and Christian architecture styles, called Mudejar. This style became very fashionable in Spain in the 14th and 15th centuries amongst the Christian nobility and it reached its maximum splendour in Seville. Another essential part of the Alcazar is the famous house of Trade, which once hosted the offices from where all the commerce with the new world was managed. After enjoying these inner areas, you will be taken to the gardens which are an exquisite sample of European gardening from the 16th until the 20th centuries.

11am: later, walk through the quarters of Santa Cruz and San Bartolomé to enjoy their narrow streets, houses of traditional architecture, countless quaint corners and cozy squares while you also learn about the Jewish Sephardic community that inhabited them in the middle ages. Then you will get to the quarter of Santa Catalina, where you will visit a closed convent from the 15th century where the nuns live in total isolation. You will be able to enter the convent with your personal local host, who is a close friend of the nuns, see the place where they live and the exquisite art collection they have. Besides, you will be able to interact a little with the nuns to learn about their life and their routines in the convent.

1:30pm: then and surely hungry you will be taken on a tapas tour of Seville for lunch.
Understanding how Spain works when it comes to celebrating food can be one of the most revealing experiences of the culture of the country. Spanish people love good food and we like to make a celebration out of every meal, together with family and friends. Food, conversation, wine, laughter and a magical common feeling of thankfulness combine in perfect harmony around Spanish tables to make meals memorable.
Tapas play a key role in the wide variety of options that the country has to offer gastronomy-wise. They are small portions of food that people usually have as an appetiser before a meal. However, especially when eating out, a meal can consist of several different tapas and this is exactly what this part of the tour is about. Your local host will take you to 1 or 2 selected tapas bars of the city, during which you’ll be able to taste a selection of 6 – 9 different local tapas dishes, combined with the corresponding drinks. Along the tour, you’ll be explained about the hectic social life that Sevillanos have and how most of it takes place around food in tapas bars.
The Andalusian capital can be overwhelming when it comes to choosing a place to eat so this tour will allow you to relax and to enjoy the magnificent culinary scene of the city, while you also learn about its particular character, together with your local host.

3:30pm: afterwards, and after a sweet local treat, you will visit the Cathedral of Seville, which is the largest gothic temple in the World and where Christopher Columbus is buried. The Cathedral of Seville was built on a vast extension of land where previously a Mosque had been erected. An important part of the Mosque was preserved and it is now a part of the Cathedral. This makes it a unique construction featuring styles as diverse as Hispanic-Muslim, Gothic, Renaissance, Neoclassical and Baroque. A UNESCO site since 1987, the cathedral of Seville will be the icing on the cake for a wonderful discovery journey of the Andalusian capital.

4:30pm: end of the tour.
