9:30am: be met your personal local host at your accommodation to take a private walking tour of Seville old town aimed at learning about its fascinating history, breath-taking architecture, joyous lifestyle and wonderful tapas cene. You will start your discovery journey by visiting the Alcazar, which is a massive complex of palaces erected in different periods and of breath-taking gardens of different styles. The Alcazar has stunning historical constructions featuring a very particular crossover between Hispanic-Muslim and Christian architecture styles, called Mudejar. This style became very fashionable in Spain in the 14th and 15th centuries amongst the Christian nobility and it reached its maximum splendour in Seville. Another essential part of the Alcazar is the famous house of Trade, which once hosted the offices from where all the commerce with the new world was managed. After enjoying these inner areas, you will be taken to the gardens, which are an exquisite sample of European gardening from the 16th until the 20th centuries.

11am: later, walk through the quarters of Santa Cruz and San Bartolomé to enjoy their narrow streets, houses of traditional architecture, countless quaint corners and cozy squares while you also learn about the Jewish Sephardic community that inhabited them in the Middle Ages. Then you will get to the quarter of Santa Catalina, where you will visit a closed convent from the 15th century where the nuns live in total isolation. You will be able to enter the convent with your personal local host, who is a close friend of the nuns, see the place where they live and the exquisite art collection they have. Besides, you will be able to interact a little with the nuns to learn about their life and their routines in the convent.

1:30pm: then and surely hungry you will be taken for a tapas lunch.
Understanding how Spain works when it comes to celebrating food can be one of the most revealing experiences of the culture of the country. Spanish people love good food and we like to make a celebration out of every meal, together with family and friends. Food, conversation, wine, laughter and a magical common feeling of thankfulness combine in perfect harmony around Spanish tables to make meals memorable.
Tapas play a key role in the wide variety of options that the country has to offer gastronomy-wise. They are small portions of food that people usually have as an appetiser before a meal. However, especially when eating out, a meal can consist of several different tapas and this is exactly what this part of the tour is about. Your local host will take you a selected tapas bar of the city, during which you’ll be able to taste a selection of 6 – 9 different local tapas dishes. Along the tour, you’ll be explained about the hectic social life that Sevillanos have and how most of it takes place around food in tapas bars.

3pm: afterwards, and after a sweet local treat, you will visit the Cathedral of Seville, which is the largest gothic temple in the World and where Christopher Columbus is buried. The Cathedral of Seville was built on a vast extension of land where previously a Mosque had been erected. An important part of the Mosque was preserved and it is now a part of the Cathedral. This makes it a unique construction featuring styles as diverse as Hispanic-Muslim, Gothic, Renaissance, Neoclassical and Baroque. A UNESCO site since 1987, the cathedral of Seville will be the icing on the cake for a wonderful discovery journey of the Andalusian capital.

4pm: then enjoy a kayaking tour along the Guadalquivir river to enjoy the stunning views that it offers of both river banks. You will get to see the city from the same perspective that the merchants experienced when they came and went in their expeditions to the new world from the port of Seville.

5pm: end of the touring services for the day. Then be escorted back to you hotel rest of the day at leisure.

Overnight in Seville. Hotel H10 Casa de la Plata. Calle Lagar 2. Seville. (Hotel not booked through Genuine Andalusia) (Hospital in the city).

11:10am: upon arrival to Córdoba, you will be met by your personal local host to go on a private 2,5 hour walking tour of the old town. Along this tour you will learn how Córdoba became an intellectual hub in the middle ages in which the three great Mediterranean cultures (Christians, Jews and Muslims) co-existed in an ambiance of tolerance and cultural exchange. Because of this Córdoba gave birth to some very important philosophers, writers, poets, doctors, astronomers, artists, scientist and other thinkers. During your exploration, you will see stunning evidence of this historical splendor by visiting three very iconic landmarks of the city, the synagogue (which features very surprising Hispanic-Muslim decorations), the chapel of Saint Bartholomew (with its crossover between Christian and Hispanic-Muslim architecture) and of course the Great-Mosque cathedral, which is probably the most thought-provoking constructions that Spain has to offer.

3rd of June: The Alhambra and el Generalife and farewell tour of the cave-houses quarter of el Sacromonte with a 19th century family photography workshop in a cave.

9:30am: be met by your personal local host and be driven in a modern and comfortable Mercedes minivan with a dedicated driver to the top of the hill of la Sabika, where the Alhambra and el Generalife are located.

9:45am: upon arrival to the Alhambra, be taken on a private walking tour of this palatial city which is the most exquisite example of the Hispanic-Muslim architecture. The Alhambra was the city where the Hispanic-Muslim sultans used to live with their army, their court and some selected artisans. Because of this, it has several parts, all of which you will get to visit during your tour while you understand the role that each of them had. Later you will visit the summer palace or Generalife. This is the place where the sultans would go to escape from the hustle and bustle of the Alhambra. It was a place designed for relax and contemplation and because of this, it has the most beautiful gardens and some of the nicest views that the city of Granada has to offer.

1pm: end of your tour of the Alhambra and time for lunch at leisure before your farewell tour in the late afternoon.

4pm: reconnect with your guide for your afternoon tour of the quarter of el Sacromonte. This hilltop quarter is probably the most unique in Granada. Perched on a hillside offering the most beautiful views of the Alhambra and with a very particular residential architecture of cave houses, el Sacromonte also has some very interesting inhabitants. This tour offers a visit to this magical area of the city aimed not only at enjoying its rustic beauty but also at meeting some local artists and at engaging with them through a unique 19th photography workshop.
You will start your afternoon tour by taking a guided walk to el Sacromonte. Along the way, you will be explained the history of the quarter and how the first gipsy communities that arrived to Granada in the 15th century settled down in the area, carving their houses on the rock.
Once in el Sacromonte, you will enter one of its caves. There you will be introduced to a couple of local artists – photographers who have their studio there. There they research and work with historical and vintage photography techniques from the 19th century. Their specialty is “Wet Plate”: the most popular and widespread technique for portraiture in the old days, first described in 1851.
Then and together with them, you will travel back in time through a photography workshop that will include a portrait shoot of your travel party. Your hosts will make you feel comfortable and they will do their best to take the best shot of you, that later you will develop in their dark room. Wet Plate photography is a 100% artisanal technique, which will demand your full care and attention in every aspect of the process. Witnessing the images appear in the darkroom is a beautiful and rewarding experience. Your portrait, casted in pure silver by the action of sunlight, will last over 200 years and it will make not only a memorable experience but a long-lasting souvenir too!
After your photo workshop, you will leave with a unique artisanal portrait and also with an unforgettable experience!
Then your personal local host will take you to discover other areas of this magical part of Granada, before escorting you back to your hotel.

6:30pm: end of your tour back at your hotel.

Overnight in Granada. Hotel Villa Oniria. Calle San Antón 29. Granada. (Hotel not booked through Genuine Andalusia). (Hospital in the city).
