26th of April: private tour of Madrid Royal Palace
–
9:30am: meet your personal guide at your hotel to go on an introductory tour of Madrid old town aimed at setting the context for your stay in the city and in the country.

Your tour will take you through the oldest quarters of the Spanish capital in order for you to understand where Madrid has its roots and from where it has evolved until becoming the vibrant and cosmopolitan capital it is today.

A first highlight of your walk will be the iconic Plaza Mayor where you will be explained about the important historical events that have happened there over the past 400 years and their importance in the history of Madrid and of Spain. Another highlight will be learning about the history of the Spanish monarchy while you stroll along the grand façades of the Royal Palace, to later enjoy a private tour inside this iconic Spanish landmark.

12:30pm: end of the tour and rest of the day at leisure.

28th of April: private day trip from Madrid to Toledo and evening flamenco and tapas tour

9am: meet your personal driver at your accommodation in Madrid and be transferred in a modern and comfortable Mercedes vehicle to Toledo old town.

10am: upon arrival to Toledo, meet your personal local host to start a panoramic tour of the city from your vehicle, aimed at setting the context for your exploration of the local history and architecture. This first part of the tour will take you to see some excellent panoramic views of Toledo allowing you to understand its geography and strategic location.

Then you will be driven to the old town quarters to start private walking tour of the city with a special focus on its medieval history, from its origins and maximum splendor under the Hispanic-Muslim rule until the Christian conquest of the city.

Along your tour you will visit the synagogue of Santa María la Blanca, which is an extraordinary example of the Jewish-Sephardic heritage of the city.

Your tour will also allow you to learn about the presence of the Hispanic-Muslim culture in the city while you are shown some selected samples (civil, religious and defensive) of a particular crossover between Hispanic-Muslim and Christian architecture styles called Mudéjar and which you will later re-encounter in Seville.

Finally, to top up your tour you will visit the Cathedral of Toledo, which is one of the most important ones ever erected in Spain.

2pm: end of your private walking tour of Toledo, reconnect with your driver and be transferred in a modern and comfortable Mercedes vehicle with a dedicated driver from Toledo back to your hotel in Madrid.

3pm: arrival to your accommodation in Madrid and free time at leisure before your evening flamenco performance.

9:30pm: be at the door of a selected flamenco venue in Madrid old town that we will have previously booked for you.

9:45pm: show starts with 4 artists onstage: 2 dancers, 1 singer and 1 guitarist

10:45pm: end of the show.

30th of April: a half day tour of Porto old town including a visit to a Port Winery
–
9:30am: be met by your personal local host at your hotel to enjoy a walking tour that will take you to visit Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia (with some sections covered by taxi).

The initial part of the tour is aimed at offering an overview of the historic center of Porto in order to learn about the origins and evolution of the city. Along this part of the tour, you will visit some of the most representative landmarks in the city: the Clerigos tower and the Cathedral, which is considered the oldest monument in the city (12th century).

Then you will cross the D. Luís Bridge to Villanova de Gaia to take in the atmosphere of the quarter and learn about the history of its iconic Port Wine industry. Also in Villanova de Gaia you will enjoy the gorgeous views of the city from the Serra do Pilar Monastery.

12pm: finish your introductory tour at a selected port winery and enjoy a private tour through which you will learn about the making and aging of this iconic Portuguese wine before doing the corresponding tastings and learning also about how it is now being used for very interesting cocktails too.

1:15pm: end of your winery tour and taxi ride back to your hotel.

1:30pm: arrival to your hotel and end of services for the day.

3rd of May: half-day tour of Lisbon

9:30am: meet your personal local host and a dedicated driver with a modern and comfortable Mercedes vehicle at your hotel to go on an exploration journey of the city that will allow you to understand, learn about and take in the beauty of the different sections of the city.

Lisbon is a big metropolis with many different iconic quarters. It spreads out along the Tagus riverfront and up and down its seven hills.

In order to get a fair perspective of the city and to understand its past and present you’ll start exploring with your local expert the quarters of Alfama (dating from the 5th century), Chiado, Bairro Alto, Baixa (the heart of the city) and the praça do Comércio area (once a thriving trading hub).

Along the way you’ll visit essential landmarks in the city of Lisbon as well as impressive views of the city from selected viewpoints.

1:30m: end of your tour back at your hotel in Lisbon.

Confirmation and payments
In order to confirm this bespoke tour program, we need a 30% deposit of the grand total via credit/debit card no later than the 23rd of February 2025. The final 70% must be paid also via credit/debit card no later than 15 days prior to the start of the 1st tour.

Cancellation policy
– If you cancel your tour program more than 15 days prior to scheduled departure, we will charge the 30% deposit only.
– If you cancel your tour program between 14 and 8 days prior to scheduled departure, we will charge 50% of the grand total of the tour and we will refund the remaining 50%.
– If you cancel your tour program between 7 and 3 days prior to scheduled departure, we will charge 70% of the grand total of the tour and we will refund the remaining 30%.
– If you cancel your tour program 2 days or less prior to scheduled departure, we will charge 100% of the full cost of the tour.
(*) Please note that partial cancellations won’t result in partial refunds. This applies to the group size and to the duration, activities and services included in the trip.
