1st of June: the Sierra de Tramuntana: discovery journey of the life of Chopin in Valldemossa, of the village of Deia and of the scenic peninsula of Sa Foradada

11am: meet your personal local host at your accommodation and enjoy a half day tour in a modern and comfortable Mercedes vehicle with a dedicated driver to explore the villages of Valldemossa and Deia and the picturesque landscapes of the peninsula of Sa Foradada. This will make an excellent introduction to the beauty and most iconic towns in the island, with the life of Chopin in Mallorca as a highlight.

The town of Valldemossa is the highest above sea level in the island of Mallorca. It is located in the Sierras de Tramuntana, perched on a hilltop, and surrounded by terraced crops. Its quaint historic center preserves its traditional Mediterranean architecture and urban planning and was home to Chopin for one winter.

During your tour of the village, you will visit the old town, its Carthusian Monastery and the room where Chopin stayed. It is there where the piano that Chopin played during his stay in the island still is, along with some other artifacts. At the end of your tour you may want to attend a short piano concert at the monastery with music by Chopin.

Your discovery journey of the Tramuntana mountains area will then take you to the village of Deia with a stop along the way at the scenic peninsula of Sa Foradada where you will see how the Tramuntana rugged landscape meets the Mediterranean sea, creating an iconic contrast typical of this part of the island.
The village of Deià is together with the Valldemossa one of the prettiest in the island. Your visit to Deià will allow you to discover the beauty of its surroundings and of its small old town while you learn about the many creative people who have been attracted to it throughout the last centuries.

On your way back from Deià to your hotel you may want to stop for a stroll and/or a light bite at Soller old town, where there’s an iconic temple by Antoni Gaudí.

3pm: end of your tour back at your accommodation and rest of the day at leisure.

Overnight in Port de Soller: premium Mediterranean sea view with breakfast and lunch or dinner included at Hotel Jumeirah Port Soller (5*)

2nd of June: northernmost Mallorca and its history: discovery journey of the historic towns of Pollença and Alcudia

11am: meet your personal local host at your accommodation to explore today in a modern and comfortable Mercedes vehicle with a dedicated driver the Northernmost section of Mallorca, where the village of Pollença, the port town of Alcudia and Cape Formentor are located. Today you will deepen into the history of the island while you enjoy the opportunity to see some of its most ancient landmarks.

Your first stop of the day will be the village of Pollença, which has a colorful history shaped by different civilisations. Romans, Vandals, Muslims and Catalan Christins left their footprint in the old town, which today features a Roman bridge and some iconic religious and civil construction from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries.

During your tour of the town you will learn about these different civilisations and how their presence shaped some fundamental aspects of the present culture, customs, architecture and general character of the island.

From Pollença you will be driven to the port town of Alcudia, taking a short deviation along the way to enjoy the scenery of the area before Cape Formentor.

Upon arrival to Alcudia, your discovery journey of the history of Mallorca will continue with a stroll through the narrow streets of its old town. These are protected by the medieval city walls, which are entirely preserved today.

Along your tour of Alcudia you will learn how the town was originally a Phoenician and Greek settlement prior to the arrival of the Romans, Vandals, Byzantines, Moors and finally Christian Catalans, who defended the city to protect it from sea invaders.

These eventually succeeded in their attempts to occupy the town in the 16th century causing an important part of the population to flee. It was not until the 18th century when a new port was built in the town triggering a resurrection of its commercial activity and splendor.

Today the historic center of Alcudia is a witness of the rich history of the city and a very pedestrian – friendly area where you may want to enjoy a coffee or a light snack before your return to your hotel in Port de Soller.

4pm: arrival to your hotel and rest of the day at leisure.

Overnight in Port de Soller: premium Mediterranean sea view with breakfast and lunch or dinner included at Hotel Jumeirah Port Soller (5*)

3rd of June: Inland Mallorca and its wines and villages

11am: meet your personal local host at your accommodation to explore today in a modern and comfortable Mercedes vehicle with a dedicated driver the inner areas of Mallorca, where its wine country is as well as some historic towns where an important part of the stable population of the island lives, preserving the true local essence of the island.

You will start your discovery journey visiting the villages of Petra and Sineu. Petra is the birthplace of Friar Junipero Serra, a Franciscan missionary who (arguably) was the founder of California.

Along your tour through Petra’s quaint old town, you will learn about the life and work of Friar Junipero, while you visit some spots connected to this local figure including a 16th church where he was baptized. You will also see some other grand religious buildings revealing the splendor of the town in the 16th and 17th centuries when its agriculture industry thrived.

During your visit to the nearby town of Sineu, you will learn how it became the residence of many Mallorcan kings and one of the most important towns on the island. Proof of this is the palace of King Jaume the 2nd, which today is a majestic convent.

After your exploration journey of these two iconic villages you will visit a selected local winery belonging to the Binissalem appellation. During your visit you will learn about the origins, different crises and present situation of the wine scene in Mallorca. Then you will learn about the grape varieties that are unique to Mallorca to later do the corresponding wine tastings, which will be accompanied by a selection of light snacks.

After your discovery journey of the inner areas of Mallorca, you will be driven back to your accommodation.

4pm: arrival to your accommodation and end of services for the day.

Overnight in Port de Soller: premium Mediterranean sea view with breakfast and lunch or dinner included at Hotel Jumeirah Port Soller (5*)
