Description and schedule of services

10th of February: arrival to Seville and day at leisure to recover from your flight

4:15pm: upon arrival of your flight to Seville airport, walk to the arrivals hall and meet your personal driver there. He will be holding a sign saying “Goerke & Lavelle – Genuine Andalusia”. Then be transferred in a modern and comfortable minibus to your hotel in Seville old town.

5:30pm (estimated): arrival to your hotel in Seville old town and rest of the day at leisure. We will give you recommendations of things to do and see in Seville and of places to eat in your free time (both as a family and as a couple). We will also book tables for you if you wish.

Overnight in Seville: 1 deluxe suite (twin) with a separate seating area interconnecting with 1 premium suite (king) with a crib and a single bed in its separate seating area, for the family both of them with breakfast included at hotel Alfonso XIII (5*GL)

11th of February: introductory tour of Seville old town and its river by horse drawn carriage and private boat, followed by a tapas lunch. Then in the late afternoon football match at Seville football club stadium (tentative plan)

10am: be met by your personal local host at your accommodation and be escorted to a nearby spot where 2 horse-drawn carriages (previously arranged) will be waiting for you.

10:10am: once on the horse drawn carriages, enjoy a panoramic tour of Seville that will take you to see its World Heritage Sites, its other iconic landmarks and its beautiful gardens from a privileged perspective. Along the way, your personal local host will give you the corresponding explanations about each of them. This will offer you an excellent overview of the city.

10:55am: your horse drawn carriage will finish on the banks of the Guadalquivir river, where you will be dropped off to board on a private electric boat with a comfortable outdoor seating area.
After boarding, your private captain and your personal local host will offer you a boat ride that will allow you to enjoy beautiful views of Seville’s river fronts. Along your 60min ride, you will be explained the importance that the river has had in the history of the city, the long commercial trips that connected Seville with America departing from its medieval port and what the river represents today for the city and its inhabitants.

12pm: after your introduction to Seville, take a short walk (or two taxis) to a selected tapas bar in Seville old town.

12:15pm: upon arrival to the tapas bar, enjoy a tapas and wines lunch (soft drinks for the kids) aimed at discovering the local gastronomy of Seville, some selected Southern Spanish wines and the genuinely Spanish approach to enjoying a meal that tapas are.

During your tapas lunch, you’ll be able to taste a selection of 6 – 9 different local dishes, combined with the corresponding drinks. The Andalusian capital can be overwhelming when it comes to choosing a place to eat so this tour will allow you to relax and to enjoy the magnificent culinary scene of the city, while you also learn about its particular character and local dynamics, together with your local host.

2pm: end of lunch and walk back to your accommodation (or short taxi ride).

Time TBC: meet your personal local host at your accommodation and be transferred in a modern and comfortable minibus with a separate driver to Seville Football club stadium.

20 minutes later: upon arrival to the surroundings of the stadium, be dropped off at a convenient spot and be escorted by your local host to your seats in the stadium to enjoy the match.

After the match: reconnect with your local host and be escorted to the spot where your driver will be waiting for you. Then be transferred back to your hotel in Seville old town.

Time TBC: arrival to your hotel in Seville and end of services for the day.

Overnight in Seville: 1 deluxe suite (twin) with a separate seating area interconnecting with 1 premium suite (king) with a crib and a single bed in its separate seating area, for the family and 1 single room (queen) for the babysitter, all of them with breakfast included at hotel Alfonso XIII (5*GL)

12th of February: hot air balloon ride in the morning and afternoon visit to the Alcazar followed by a tile painting and pottery making hands-on activity in the ceramics and pottery studio of two local artisans

7:15am: meet your personal driver at your accommodation and be transferred in a modern and comfortable minivan to the spot where your hot air balloon will take off today, in the countryside outside Seville.

8am: upon arrival to the take off spot, meet your personal hot air balloon pilot and be given some general instructions about the flight as well as some safety instructions. All members of the family are welcome to fly but please note that it is not allowed for safety reasons to carry small children in your arms at any point during the flight or to lift them.

Then, your pilot will prepare the balloon for the flight to later take you onboard with him for a flight of between 60 and 90 minutes depending on the weather conditions and on your preferences too. During the flight you will enjoy the views of the countryside that surrounds Seville and of the perimeter of the National Park of Doñana. You will also be able to see the city of Seville in the near distance.

After the flight, you will be offered a mid-morning picnic, before reconnecting with your driver to make your way back to Seville.

12pm: arrival to your hotel in Seville and free time until your afternoon activity.

2pm: meet (adults and maybe Matilda) your personal local host at your accommodation and take a short walk to Seville’s most impressive World Heritage Site: the Alcazar or Moorish palace.

2:15pm: upon arrival to the Alcazar, you will take a walking tour of this site, which is a massive complex of palaces erected in different periods and of breath-taking gardens of different styles. The Alcazar has stunning historical constructions featuring a very particular crossover between Hispanic-Muslim and Christian architecture styles, called Mudejar. This style became very fashionable in Seville in the 14th and 15th centuries amongst the Christian nobility and it reached its maximum splendor in Seville. Another essential part of the Alcazar is the famous house of Trade, which once hosted the offices from where all the commerce with the new world was managed. After enjoying these inner areas, you will be taken to the gardens which are an exquisite sample of European gardening from the 16th until the 20th centuries.

3:15pm: after your visit to the Alcazar, be escorted back to your hotel to pick up Charles and Lucia (and Matilda if she doesn’t take the Alcazar tour).

4:30pm: depart from your hotel with your personal local host to the quarter of Triana on foot.
The city of Seville is divided into two parts by the famous Guadalquivir river. The Northern part concentrates the impressive World Heritage sites of the city and the vast majority of its attractions. Because of this, travelers rarely venture into the iconic Southern quarter of Triana, historically famous for its bullfighters, flamenco dancers and skilled ceramicists and potters.

Your walk will take you across the river into this unique area of the Andalusian capital. Once in Triana, you will be given a short introduction of the quarter to later visit a ceramics and pottery workshop.

5pm: At the workshop you will be explained briefly the different tile-making techniques that have been used in Seville since the Moorish times until today. After this, you will be given your own tile to paint under the supervision of a skilled local ceramicist. Then, taking turns, every member of the family will be called to the potter’s wheel, where a local potter will assist them while they make their own piece of pottery on the wheel, which of course they will be able to take home along with the tiles once they are fired.

7pm: After this hands-on experience, you will be escorted back to your hotel or be invited to enjoy the rest of your day in your own leisure in the quarter of Triana.

13th of February: morning and early afternoon market tour and cooking lesson with a local chef followed by lunch in her cooking studio. Flamenco show in the late afternoon

9:30am: be met by your personal cooking instructor at your accommodation. Then, together with her, you will be taken to a local market to buy all the necessary fresh ingredients for lunch.

Along your shopping route, your personal local host will provide you with some important explanations about the origins and quality of different produce. This will allow you to understand how the Spanish like to carefully select the ingredients they use for their dishes. Then, walk (or take two taxis) to her cooking studio.

Upon arrival, you will be offered something to drink and then your culinary experience will continue with some further explanations about the origin and quality of some selected produce, this time through tastings. Then it will be time to cook a selection of regional recipes that will make an excellent and comprehensive lunch that you will be able to enjoy in the dining area of the cooking studio. Finally and after a sweet treat, your culinary experience will finish leaving you with a happy belly and a happy soul!

Every trip to Spain should include at least one meal cooked by a caring and knowledgeable Spanish host. Spanish home food is the best that can be found in the country, so a homemade Spanish feast is a must on every trip to Spain for any food lover. Besides, learning how to cook some Spanish recipes will allow you to travel back to Spain from your own kitchen whenever you like! All this and more is what you will get to experience and learn during this tour.

2:30pm: end of lunch and free time at leisure before your evening flamenco show.

6:15pm: (adults, Matilda, Lucia and Charlie) meet your personal local host at your hotel to take a walking tour towards a selected flamenco venue. The tour starts with a short walking tour through Seville old town along which you’ll learn how flamenco emerged from South West Spain as a result of a slow fusion of the ancient multicultural musical heritage of Southern Spain with the original gypsy rhythms and musical roots. This will set the context for (and enhance the appreciation of) the selected flamenco performance in a small and intimate venue that will follow, with 4 people onstage: a guitar player, a singer and two dancers.

7pm: flamenco show starts.

8pm: after the flamenco show, be escorted back to your hotel.

8:15pm: arrival to your hotel and end of services for the day.

14th of February: day trip from Seville to the Roman site of Itálica and to the natural park of Aracena for a horseback ride and to see the grotto of the wonders

9am: meet your personal local host at your accommodation and be transferred in a modern and comfortable Mercedes minivan with a dedicated driver to the Roman archaeological site of Italica.

9:30am: upon arrival to Italica, enjoy a private guided tour of the site, which is a must for those travelers willing to learn about Hispania: the Roman territory that Spain once was. This former Roman city was built in 216 B.C. as a fortified military settlement and it soon became a prestigious city with impressive constructions such as a theater, an amphitheater, Roman baths and several grand residences. This tour is aimed at recreating the splendor of a city that saw the birth of emperor Trajan in the 1st century A.D. and arguably of Hadrian too. Amazing mosaics in a surprising state of conservation, streets with their original paving, an urban planning of perfect square blocks and the breath-taking space where gladiators would fight each other in front of more than 20000 people will make you understand the level of refinement and development of the Roman empire 20 centuries ago.

10:30am: after your tour of Italica, reconnect with your driver and be transferred to a selected horse farm in the natural park of Aracena and Picos de Aroche.

11:30am: upon arrival to the farm, your personal horse riding instructor will welcome you and will take you to select your horses for the ride. Every member of the family will be able to ride except for the 2 year old who can stay in a playground with the babysitter at the farm.

Then, you will be given an introduction and some basic notions and information about your horses to later do some riding in the farm to get familiar with your horses. After this you will be taken on an easy and gentle ride through the natural park. The ride will take you through a vast extension of dehesa forest, which is unique to Southwestern Spain and along which you will see many oak trees of two main types (holm oaks and cork oaks) as well as other species typical of Mediterranean forests.

1pm: after the ride, you will be taken to the town of Aracena for lunch and to maybe explore its castle, which sits on top of a hill and overlooks the surrounding valleys.

3:15pm: after lunch and maybe some exploration of Aracena old town you will be taken to Gruta de las Maravillas (grotto of the wonders).

3:30pm: upon arrival to the grotto, you will enjoy a visit that will take you to explore its different chambers, with their iconic stalactites and stalagmites, crystal clear waters and impressive rocky formations.

4:30pm: after your visit to the grotto, reconnect with your driver and be transferred back to Seville.

5:45pm: arrival to Seville and end of services for the day.

15th of February: day trip to Jerez to see the horse show at the Royal School of Equestrian Art and evening tapas and wines tasting tour for the adults

10am: meet your personal local host at your hotel and be transferred in a modern and comfortable Mercedes vehicle with a dedicated driver to the city of Jerez, where the Royal School of Equestrian art is located.

Along the way, your personal local host will set the context for your stay in the area by giving you some essential information about the landscape, culture, geography, customs and character of Southernmost continental Spain.

11:15am: upon arrival to Jerez, enjoy a panoramic tour of the city aimed at learning about its defensive walls and about the differences between the quarters inside and outside the city walls.

11:30am: your tour will finish at the Royal School of Equestrian art where you will enjoy an introductory tour aimed at learning about the different courses that are taught at the school. After this you will be escorted to your seats (1st or 2nd row).

12pm: the horse starts with performances of dressage, horse carriage driving, long reins and country riding.

1:30pm: after the show, reconnect with your driver and be taken to a selected local restaurant for lunch.

1:50pm: arrival to the restaurant and lunch there.

3:15pm: after lunch, reconnect with your driver and be transferred to your accommodation in Seville.

4:30pm: arrival to your accommodation in Seville and end of services for the day for the kids. The adults will enjoy a tapas and wines tasting tour in the evening.

7:30pm (adults only): be met by your personal foodie host to start a tapas and wines tasting tour through Seville old town.

Tapas play a key role in the wide variety of options that Seville has to offer gastronomy-wise. They are small portions of food that people usually have as an appetizer before a meal. However, especially when eating out, a meal can consist of several different tapas and this is exactly what this tour is about.
Your local Spanish foodie host will meet you at your hotel to take you on a tapas journey through 2 – 3 selected tapas bars of the city, during which you’ll be able to taste a selection of 6 – 9 different local tapas dishes, combined with the corresponding Southern Spanish wines. Along the tour, you’ll be explained about different foods, recipes and wines from Southern Spain, understanding their origin, complexity and how to practice the local art of pairing local food with local wines.

Besides, the Andalusian capital can be overwhelming when it comes to choosing a place to eat so this tour will allow you to relax and to enjoy the magnificent culinary scene of the city, while you also learn about its particular character and identity, together with your local host.

10:30pm: end of your tapas and wines tour back at your hotel.
