9:30am: meet your personal local host at your accommodation and get in a modern and comfortable Mercedes vehicle with a dedicated driver to go on an exploration journey that will take you to visit the breath-taking landscapes of the Douro valley, a carefully selected winery, where you will enjoy a private visit with a wine and olive oil tasting too and finally to take a private river cruise in the river.

Along the way, your personal local host will give you some general information about the Douro Valley, about its agriculture, history, towns, landscapes, economy, traditions and general character.

10:50am: upon arrival to the Douro valley you will be taken on a panoramic tour, along which you will enjoy some breath-taking views from strategic viewpoints, where you will take the corresponding stops. There your guide will offer you relevant explanations about the diversity of wineries, soils, heights and grapes that can be found in the valley.

11:30am: after this first introduction to the wine scene, landscape and viticulture of the Douro Valley you will be taken to a family owned winery, where you will enjoy a private visit aimed at learning about their particular approach to winemaking in the Douro Valley. It will be there where you will enjoy not only the wines of the family but also their their olive oil. This will offer you a great insight into the agriculture of the Douro Valley beyond grape growing.

1:10pm: after this initial immersion into the wine scene of the Douro Valley and with all the knowledge acquired, you will be transferred to the town or Régua for lunch.

1:15pm: arrival to a selected local restaurant in Regua, representative of the gastronomy of the area and lunch there. Your personal local host will help you to order and will add relevant culture information about Portuguese gastronomy to make lunch an immersive cultural experience.

3pm: private transfer from the restaurant to the riverside town of Pinhao.

3:30pm: upon arrival to Pinhao, start of your private river cruise on the Douro River. During 1h you will enjoy a unique landscape of terraced vineyards and farm estates that was given the UNESCO World Heritage recognition in 2001.

Along the journey, you will keep learning about the long wine-making history of the region, which has produced a cultural landscape of outstanding beauty that is at the same time a reflection of its technological, social, and economic evolution.

Halfway along the ride you will be offered a glass of Port Wine and also a glass of local red wine. Your cruise will finally offer you an insight into the evolution of the landscape of the Douro Valley due to the different viticulture techniques used in the area throughout the centuries, being those that the region embraced after the arrival of phylloxera in the 1860s or particular significance.

4:30pm: end of your river cruise back at Pinhão and private transfer back to your hotel in Porto.

6pm: arrival to your hotel in Porto and end of services for the day.

Confirmation and payments
In order to confirm this private tour we require a 30% deposit of the grand total no later than the 7th of June 2025. The final 70% must be paid no later than 10 days prior to the start of the trip.

Cancellation policy
– If you cancel your tour more than 10 days prior to scheduled departure, we will charge the 30% deposit only.
– If you cancel your tour between 10 and 7 days prior to scheduled departure, we will charge 50% of the grand total of the tour and we will refund the remaining 50%.
– If you cancel your tour between 6 and 3 days prior to scheduled departure, we will charge 70% of the grand total of the tour and we will refund the remaining 30%.
– If you cancel your tour 2 days or less prior to scheduled departure, we will charge 100% of the full cost of the tour.
(*) Please note that partial cancellations won’t result in partial refunds. This applies to the group size and to the duration, activities and services included in the day trip.
