6:45pm: welcome your personal local host at your accommodation for an introductory family workshop on Southern Spanish culture with a special focus on the Easter week processions that will be taking place in the city throughout your stay.

This activity is aimed at setting the context (history, architecture, landscape, climate, gastronomy and traditions) for a trip through Southern Spain. It consists of a series of interactive explanations (with engaging questions thrown in) through which everybody will understand how different cultures and civilisations coming from different areas of the world have shaped throughout the millennia what Andalusia is today.

Maps, photographs, books, songs and clapping will illustrate the explanations, before switching to a second part where general Spanish customs and traditions will be uncovered in order for everybody to have a deeper understanding of this part of Spain and its people, especially during Easter.

8pm: end of your family workshop and rest of the evening at leisure.

Overnight in Seville. VRBO or Airbnb Luxe accommodation in Seville old town. (Not booked through Genuine Andalusia).

10:55am: your horse drawn carriage will finish on the banks of the Guadalquivir river, where you will be dropped off to board a private electric boat with a comfortable outdoor seating area.

After boarding, your private captain and your personal local host will offer you a boat ride that will allow you to enjoy beautiful views of Seville’s river fronts. Along your 60min ride, you will be explained the importance that the river has had in the history of the city, the long commercial trips that connected Seville with America departing from its medieval port and what the river represents today for the city and its inhabitants.

13th of April: Venture into the quarter of Triana to be ceramics and pottery artisans for a day!

10am: meet your personal local host at your accommodation to start a private walk to the artisans quarter of Triana.

The city of Seville is divided into two parts by the famous Guadalquivir river. The Northern part concentrates the impressive World Heritage sites of the city and the vast majority of its attractions. Because of this, travelers rarely venture into the iconic Southern quarter of Triana, historically famous for its bullfighters, flamenco dancers and skilled ceramicists and potters.

Your walk will take you across the river into this unique area of the Andalusian capital. Once in Triana, you will be given a short introduction of the quarter to later visit a ceramics and pottery workshop.

At the workshop you will be explained briefly the different tile-making techniques that have been used in Seville since the Moorish times until today. After this, you will be given your own tile to paint under the supervision of a skilled local ceramicist. Then, taking turns, every member of the group will be called to the potter’s wheel, where a local potter will assist them while they make their own piece of pottery on the wheel, which of course they will be able to take home along with the tiles once they are fired.

1pm: After this hands-on experience, you will be escorted back to your hotel or be invited to enjoy the rest of your day in your own leisure in the quarter of Triana.
